You can go home after several hours or stay overnight
All patients receive an ON–Q Pain Ball to bathe the abdomen with local anesthesia for 3 to 5 days after surgery
Drains are used for seven to 10 days
You can shower on the second day after surgery
Moderate pain for the first two days that is usually much less by the third day is easily controlled with medications
You may feel tired for the first two days and weak for up to ten days, but it should be easy for you to walk
Swelling is typically mild to moderate for the first week, after which it rapidly disappears; some swelling may persist near the incision for several months
There is usually only mild bruising

You should plan to take off of work for seven to fourteen days
You may resume many activities after about the first week, and most after three weeks
